Climb out of depression with professional help

Looking for help–

An Amazing and Important First Step to Feeling Better

And you know what? You can not only deal with your struggle…but you can soar above and beyond what you ever may have felt was possible. It’s THIS opportunity to walk with you on your journey that is such an honor for me.

Using compassion and motivation-based treatment, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, brain spotting, and all other tools available, we’ll untangle the thought patterns that have held you hostage, and prevented your growth.

My goal in therapy is to help you find the ease and sense of safety that will allow you to experience self-reliance, confidence and peace … and strange as it sounds, to love yourself first.  Only then can you experience joy … because you need to feel safe to know joy. For so many men and women, a sense of safety has eluded them as long as they remember …but it’s time for that to change.

So that’s where we begin.

Hello…I’m Lynn Friedman…

 Image Hi, I'm Lynn Friedman

As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), and a Board Certified Diplomate

in Clinical Social Work (BCD) in the Philadelphia, PA area, I’ve:

  • been voted Best Therapist of 2008 for the Main Line Times newspaper,

  • operated a private counseling practice since 1993

  • Director of out-patient mental health program for leading teaching hospital

  • Director of out-patient substance abuse programs and

  • worked in all three levels of substance abuse treatment, specifically in-patient, intensive out-patient and out-patient treatment

  • supervised psychiatric residents during their training

I’ve had opportunities to speak on the local and national level on topics such as overeating,  anorexia, bulimia, and the way eating disorders are associated with trauma and addiction. I’ve also spoken about dual diagnosis, the connection between mental health issues and addictions, as well as employee assistance programs and plenty more.

Since 1993, I’ve been a psychotherapist in full-time private practice. In that time, I’ve helped hundreds of people create peace and safety for themselves…who came to me feeling stuck and confused.  I offer a safe, nonjudgmental, comfortable space where you can talk about whatever you need to, so we can explore whatever may interfere with your growth, freedom, and movement forward.

In our society today, there’s a lack of education about mental illness and the result is that the stigma prevents those who suffer from getting the treatment they need.

Please don’t be afraid to call and talk to me if you feel out of balance, or like your life is too hard to manage anymore…or if you have a sadness or frustration that interferes with your daily living.

Life can  be hard, and the losses and disappointments and betrayals usually upset your equilibrium for awhile. As a professional solution-based counselor, I can lead you through the process of adjustment and healing more efficiently than you likely can by yourself. You don’t have to do this alone, and solutions can get your life back on track and running smoothly again much sooner.

Education

I hold a master’s degree and state licence in clinical social work along with the honor of being appointed “Diplomate”  in clinical social work. I have been voted “Best Therapist” by the MainLine Times. Prior to working full time in my private practice, I was director of an out-patient mental health and substance abuse center for a leading teaching hospital where I also provided supervision for the medical residency program in psychiatry.

Throughout my years of providing psychotherapy I have assisted people in resolving: eating disorders, addiction, life transitions, anxiety, trauma, depression,  relationship issues, financial issues, spirituality issues, and more.

My approach to therapy

My practice is focused on helping my client experience authenticity, to live in the moment, to know what it is to be grounded and thereby unflustered by the storms around him or her. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. The majority of men and women in our culture don’t really feel worthy of love…or joy…or peace. So rebuilding self-esteem and establishing confidence through authenticity is foundational for many and we work on that together.

There is no shame in having struggles, but it is a shame to live without solutions when they’re available. Let’s work together for a better and happier life for you.

…Living in the moment…
